eminem, rap god,
Eminem’s album, “Marshall Mathers LP 2”, will be available online for purchase today, but before the album was released people were able to stream the album on iTunes. While many are anticipating being able to purchase his album, it seems that controversial listeners have already started listening to the album and are finding lyrics within it that are disrespectful to some. First OFF! It’s an Eminem album, who in the world would pick up his album if they weren’t prepared to be offended? Thats like going to a Tosh Daniels’ comedy show and expecting him not to stereotypically make fun of your race.

One of the main targeted lyrics that Eminem was forced to backup in a Rolling Stone interview is of him still using homophobic terms within his song, “Rap God” which he uses to aim at other rappers. One part of his verse he states:

“Little gay-looking boy / So gay I can barely say it with a straight face-looking boy” and “You f–s think it’s all a game ’til I walk a flock of flames.”

During Eminem’s interview with Rolling Stone, Eminem is questioned about the homophobic terms he still feels the need to use in today’s world. When asked why would he use terms like “faggot” or “gay-looking” as an insult, when he doesn’t have a problem with gay people, Em response:

“I don’t know how to say this without saying it how I’ve said it a million times. But that word, those kind of words, when I came up battle-rappin’ or whatever, I never really equated those words . . .”

When asked to actually mean “homosexual”, he replies:

“Yeah. It was more like calling someone a bitch or a punk or asshole. So that word was just thrown around so freely back then. It goes back to that battle, back and forth in my head, of wanting to feel free to say what I want to say, and then [worrying about] what may or may not affect people. And, not saying it’s wrong or it’s right, but at this point in my career – man, I say so much shit that’s tongue-in-cheek. I poke fun at other people, myself. But the real me sitting here right now talking to you has no issues with gay, straight, transgender, at all. I’m glad we live in a time where it’s really starting to feel like people can live their lives and express themselves. And I don’t know how else to say this, I still look at myself the same way that I did when I was battling and broke.”

When the reporter states that he thought, Eminem was rapping as Slim Shady and wanted to offend people, Eminem says:

“Well, look, I’ve been doing this shit for, what, 14 years now? And I think people know my personal stance on things and the personas that I create in my music. And if someone doesn’t understand that by now, I don’t think there’s anything I can do to change their mind about it.”

Well… I’m pretty sure that Eminem will not be giving an apology speech anytime soon. But lets be honest right now, Is this really the WORST thing Eminem has stated in a rap song? This is the artists that literally made a song that told a whole plot on how he would KILL is EX-WIFE! Plus, Gay people today and the LGBT community probably have the highest self esteem out of all people today. I’m pretty sure, many of them are probably laughing and aren’t worried about what little words Eminem has to say.

The Rolling Stone issue with Eminem’s interview will be released on November 22nd, so make sure to pick it up to read the entire interview.
