50 Cent, Interscope, whycauseican

Today it has been announced that, G-Unit founder and Aftermath protege 50 Cent has decided to leave Interscope. With days right after Jimmy lovine, Dr. Dre and Eminem were announced to be on XXL‘s April cover of their next issue, 50 cent has decided to part ways with them and go with his independent label who has signed a worldwide distribution deal with Universal Records and Caroline’ which is a independant label with ‘Capitol Music Group‘. While with Interscope Records, 50 Cent has sold over 30 million records and scored a Billbroad Hot 100 #1 with his hit song, “In Da Club” and has made hit song such as, “Piggybank“, “Wangsta” and “Magic Stick“.

This morning, 50 Cent released a statement saying:

“I have had great success to date with Shady/Aftermath/Interscope and I’d like to thank Eminem and Dr. Dre for giving me an incredible opportunity. I’ve learned so much from them through the years. I am excited to enter this new era where I can carry out my creative vision.”

In reply, Eminem released a statement saying:

“Both myself and Shady Records are grateful to have had the chance to play a part in 50′s career. Shady simply would not be what it is without 50 Cent. I’ve developed a great friendship with 50 over the years, and that’s not going to change. We know 50 will have success in his new situation, and we remain supporters of both him and G-Unit.”
