Bob Marley once stated, “when the music hit you, you feel no pain.”, but also when music overwhelms you it can help you to release pain.
This was the main situation when it artist/producer/fashion designer Pharrell Williams was interviewed by Oprah Winfrey on her show “Oprah Prime”. When Pharrell was asked about his No. 1 hit song, “Happy”, Pharrell stated to Oprah that when it was first released nothing really happened. Then when he released the 24 hour “Happy” video… BOOM!
That moment Oprah showed a video reel that was put together of people from other county creating their own “Happy” videos that started to break Pharrell down. As the clip ended Oprah stated it makes her cry too.
Pharrell then replied:
“It’s overwhelming, because it’s like I love what I do, and I just appreciate the fact that people have believed in me for so long that I could make it to this point to feel that.”
as Oprah replied:
“I so now get why it’s so infectious — because it came from such a clear space that the energy was absolutely uninterrupted by anything than allowing it to flow from heart to heart.”
I can fully understand what Pharrell feel. When you are putting your all in everything you love to do and for people to accept it with the upmost respect and love that you have and come to support you, it can be overwhelming.
Now, two days after the interview, the clip is trending on social medias and it’s not because no one thought it was funny, but many people understand where he is coming from, or want to know how that feels within their life. MUSIC IS POWERFUL!!!
