When it comes to a voice that was know all over the world, Casey Kasem is one that will definitely go in the history books. One of the few pioneers of broadcasting that was still alive today has passed away at the age of 82. After his health declining late last year and family issue, it is reported that Casey Kasem passed away at 3:23 a.m. Sunday at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Gig Harbor, Washington.
His eldest son released a statement saying:
“Early this Father’s Day morning, our dad Casey Kasem passed away surrounded by family and friends. Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering, we are heartbroken. Thank you for all your love, support and prayers. The world will miss Casey Kasem, an incredible talent and humanitarian; we will miss our Dad.”
Casey Kasem was an American disc jockey, radio personality and actor and became well known from his American Top 20, and American Top 10 from 1970-2009 until he retired. For many 80’s babies as myself, most remember him from starting off every new years Eve Apple drop in New York City, the voice of Norville “Shaggy” Rogers on Scooby Doo and also his many guest disc jockey appearances on Save By The Bell.
