In the music industry, DJs have come some of the highest paid artists in the music business. With DJs such as Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Steve Aoki and more, they have shown that they don’t need a performer to hit the stage to receive accolades for their work, but instead have created themselves as the spotlighted artist for their events. For 2013, Forbes released a list of the highest paid DJs in the music industry with Calvin Harris topping the list with $46 Million brought in last year from packing Las Vegas nightclubs, events, producing for artists and more. Beating out DJ’s such as Tiesto and David Guetta who came in second and third with $32 Million and $30 Million dollars.
Now for 2014, Forbes has released the highest paid DJ’s in the world and it seems like some other EDM DJ’s have caught on quickly on how to build their brand and bring home the money. At the top of the list, Calvin Harris still takes the #1 spot with this year totaling up to $66 Million. Who would have thought a former grocery store stocker would come to make that much! Coming in second this year is David Guetta who has created multiple collaboration songs with major artists such as Rihanna, Britney Spears and Lady Gaga, plus packing clubs events and more worldwide. Third this year, jumping from 6th place last year is the 24-year-old EDM DJ Avicii who grossed $28 million to tie with the veteran Dutch DJ Tiesto.
