The list for the 2015 Grammy Nominations was released this weekend and top songwriting duo Rock City were among the industry’s coveted who’s who on the list. Theron Thomas and Timothy Thomas aka Rock City received not one but two nominations in the same category for Best Pop Vocal Album. Ariana Grande’s amazing vocals on “Be My Baby” and Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” gives them more than a fighting chance to leave the ceremony with a golden statue.
While the duo is excited about the Grammy noms, 4th quarter of 2014 has the guys busy working on numerous A-listers as well as their upcoming solo album. In October Rock City recently released their first single “I’m That” featuring 2Chaniz the flagship single on their long-awaited project (Kemosabe/RCA). In addition to their breakout single, the VI brothers penned some of 4th quarters fastest climbing singles including; Usher’s ode to his Atlanta roots “I Don’t Mind” featuring Juicy J, and rap Queen Nikki Minaj’s most recent single, “Only” featuring Chris Brown, Drake and Lil Wayne. Rock City also assisted with Black Eyed Pea’s hot girl Fergie’s comeback to the top 40. Fergie’s “L.A. Love” has not only been rising on the charts but has been featured as the opening song for Bravo’s “Khole and Kourtney Take The Hamptons” and also new the 2015 Chrysler commercial. “We are constantly working so we really don’t stop and think about stuff like this, ” Theron says when asked how he felt about the Grammy nominations, ” but it is an honor to be competing against yourself. God is good.” We are thankful for a great year, but we are looking forward to getting the opportunity to our project. The timing is perfect,”says Timothy.
