Drake is having one Hell of a year! After claiming a spot on the Forbes 30 highest earning artist in 2015 and their 2015’s ‘Hip Hop Cash Kings’ list, Drake also has come Spotify‘s most streamed artist of the year.
At the beginning of this year, Drake shocked the world as he dropped his If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late album which was the 1st album to go platinum for 2015. Then hit the road as he headlined a pleatora of festivals which included 2015 Governors Ball, Music Midtown and Wireless Festival. Even then Drake wasn’t finished there as him and Future teamed up to release a collaborative album titled, What A Time To Be Alive. Still after already taking over 2015, Drake drops “Hotline Bling” that came the new “Cha Cha” and instantly took over Instagram as he released the music video for it and hilarious memes were created for every single dance move he used.
So when it comes down to it, I don’t think people had any choice, but to want to know what Drake had going on, or what else he had released, or simply just wanting to listen to Drake, when this year he has been truly the artist everyone has been talking about. On Spotify, the 6 God landed 1.8 billion streams in 2015. Following behind him was Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd and Kanye West. For women though, Rihanna was the highest streamed female artist as she landed over 1 billion Spotify streams and that’s without releasing her new ANTI album which is highly anticipated.
