It has been 3 years since the release of her debut album Sing To The Moon. The British soul singer, Laura Mvula, is back with latest single “People” featuring Wretch 32. Bellowing out almost that of a civil rights anthem with Wretch 32 spitting soul piercing lyrics.

“Oh, love
Kill my people and drown them dead
Down in the river of lights
I’ll fall
To drive us out to the end and take
A dream and bury them deep…”

[Chorus: Laura Mvula]
How glorious, this light in us
We are a wonder
How glorious, this light in us…

The lead single “Overcome” featuring Nile Rivers, off her upcoming album, had more of an uplifting, inspirational energy. A civil rights anthem with repeated chants of positive messages. In this day and age of widespread racial tension, who doesn’t want to hear more affirmative messages in music. Her new single “People” mirrors the same essence. Laura Mvula popularity is mainly overseas but with her upcoming sophomore album The Dreaming Room due out May 6th, the U.S. will certainly give her the recognition she deserves. “Overcome” and “People” are available on iTunes
