Rising Detroit, Michigan rapper Nate Nixen officially released the video for his quick-fire banger, “Phenomenal” today. Signed to Block Club/Culture Republic, the 19 year-old MC has been blowing minds on the Midwest music scene and beyond with an arsenal of witty rhymes and wicked visuals. In addition to his relentless desire to succeed, Nate’s talent is evident in his ample emphasis on remaining true to his suburban roots while showcasing his lyrical abilities.

Born and raised in Lake Orion, Michigan, Nate relocated to Detroit in pursuit of growing his music career, which he’s been cultivating professionally since 2011. Sonically nourished on The Beatles, ELO (Electric Light Orchestra), Sam Cooke, Etta James and Ray Charles, as well as Green Day, Blink 182, Lil Boosie, Webbie, Kanye, Wiz Khalifa, Lil Wayne and Jay Z, Nate began rapping at 13. His investment of hard work through writing, arranging, recording and mixing his own music is paying off. He was discovered by manger Jay “Mills,” a record industry vet, after Nate emailed him songs and homemade videos. His online buzz caught the attention of Culture Republic’s Jason Geter who wanted to help expand Nate’s brand and influence. “I’ve had a pretty good track record when it comes to identifying young talent and I feel like Nate definitely possesses that superstar dynamic,” states Geter.

The young phenomenon has consistently kept the Internet fed with material, which includes the release of 59-second mini-music videos created strictly for Instagram using the clever hashtag #First59 (a play off of the crime show First 48). As a result, Nate made a fan out of Andre Drummond of the Detroit Pistons who asked to be a part of the MC’s movement. The NBA player put down the basketball and picked up the mic to deliver a few verses on part 27 of #First59. His lyrical contribution led to the pair filming a spontaneous video that quickly went viral.

When Nate’s not behind the mic or in front of the camera, you can find him on his skateboard. The fresh youthful energy and parlayed vibe creates a sense that Nate Nixen is about to disrupt the musical landscape of hip-hop.
